Split 10″ Available, Live Ritual #1 Video Online, New Tape, Vomitus

The split 10″ with The Austrasian Goat is now available to purchase in the official Hallowed Butchery store. European fans can also find the split through Vendetta Records at Bis Auf’s Messer. The entire Hallowed Butchery half (“Hexagram: The God of Self”) is available to stream on the official Hallowed Butchery YouTube page (and below).

The first Hallowed Butchery live ritual was a great success! The venue canceled on us at the last minute, so we moved the show outside in an industrial park by the ocean. There could not have been a more perfect location. The Hallowed Butchery set was performed with the Massachusetts-based doomcore band Holding Steady the Heartbeat of Hell acting as backing band. It was my first time performing with the band. There were no full-band rehearsals, and with that in mind, I was very pleased with how it all came together. The only mistakes made were my own. I look forward to Live Ritual #2. Videos of the performance are available due to the kindness of Patrick Gill. Many thanks to him and his friends for recording it. It came out great! A new Hallowed Butchery demo tape is in the works. It will feature a handful of unreleased, pre-”Funeral Rites for the Living” black metal songs, as well as some unreleased doom demos. Lastly, on top of all of the forthcoming Hallowed Butchery music, I am busy working on my debut VOMITUS record. If you are unaware, VOMITUS is another solo project of mine. It is more in the vein of my earlier black metal works, but much more vicious, hateful, and evil. Recommended to fans of raw black metal, anti-Christian sentiment, and total fucking misanthropy. First Live Ritual & Release of AG/HB Split 10″

On Saturday, September 10th Hallowed Butchery will be performing alongside Falls of Rauros, Thou, and Wolves in the Throne Room in Portland, Maine. This will be the first Hallowed Butchery performance. With Holding Steady the Heartbeat the Hell acting as the backing band, Hallowed Butchery will be performing the majority of his “Funeral Rites for the Living” album. This is not an event to be missed, but for those that will be unable to attend (due to distance of course!), professional videos of the performance will be available to stream online shortly after.

The long-awaited split, collaborative 10″ with France’s THE AUSTRASIAN GOAT will finally be available, with its release being on the same day as the event above.

The USA-based progressive doom soloist Hallowed Butchery teams up with the French funeral doom soloist The Austrasian Goat for a monumental collaborative split 10″ based upon the moral stance of self-reliance, popularized and preached by the Transcendentalist movement of the 19th-century. In a world of consumerism, conformity, religious-brainwashing, and political bullshit, these two musical geniuses refuse to merely follow the pack. This is reflected in both their lyrical content, and in their approach to their music, which is performed in solitude, and which often defies categorization. The Austrasian Goat begins the split with two songs of dark, minimalistic, funeral doom reminiscent of Ahab, Celestiial, and Nortt, but with an approach all his own. On the second of the two dirges, Ryan Fairfield of Hallowed Butchery makes a guest appearance. Side two features one epic song from Hallowed Butchery. His song is different from anything he has done in the past – reminiscent of Hawkwind-on-a-bad-acid-trip with Black Sabbath chugging cough syrup, while My Bloody Valentine snorts a mishmash of pills. The song features guest appearances from Julien Louvet of The Austrasian Goat and Brad Bolduc of Terrible Old Man. In a nutshell, “Songs of Self-Reliance and Solitude” is music for the forward-thinking, the individualist, the anarchist, the artist, and the metal-head in us all.

The split with VELNIAS and FALLS OF RAUROS (and 1 more tba) is still in the works. I am busy putting the finishing touches on my two songs. So far, we have a great group of record labels on board, including Howling Mine and Pesanta Urfolk. It is going to be EPIC.

Recorded in the summer of 2010, “Grazing Upon Fields of Envy” is an unreleased Hallowed Butchery song. Originally intended for a side project, and then for a forthcoming split, I scrapped the track due to the new direction in which my music is heading. Therefore, I have decided to give it away for free on the Hallowed Butchery BandCamp. Help yourself to a free, high-quality download. Let me know your thoughts. I hope it ruins your life.

A Choir of Dead Children Sing Their Hymn for a Sleeping God

This is the tentative title for the forthcoming full-length album. The concept has changed. The entire album will deal with child abuse, neglect, and murder. All proceeds will be donated to a charity for abused children. More details and a confirmed charity organization will available soon. A release date can be expected late 2011/early 2012.

The split 10″ with the Austrasian Goat should be available soon. There were some delays with mastering, and the girl who was supposed to do the artwork has disappeared. I will be taking over artwork duties. Screenprinted, metallic paper is in the works!!!

Also in the works are a series of limited live performances. With a backing band, I will perform “Funeral Rites for the Living” in its entirety. More details coming soon.

Split 10″, Best of 2010, Upcoming Releases

The collaborative split 10″ with France’s The Austrasian Goat is currently being mastered. Sophie of Bone Char will be doing the artwork. Expect some gnarly, metallic packaging! A release date will be available soon.

It is confirmed. There will be a 4-way split 12″ between Hallowed Butchery, Falls of Rauros, Gallowbraid, and Velnias. Side one will feature new songs from the first three artists, and side two will feature Velnias’ 20+ minute opus from their untitled 2010 tour EP. A release is expected in the fall of this year via Vendetta Records and a second (unconfirmed) label. More details coming soon.

A split with Hollow Sunshine is also in the works. No details as of yet.

I have begun recording my second full-length record. It is conceptual, and loosely-based upon the mythological event known as Fimbulwinter. The story is that of a world covered in snow by an evil warlock, which leads to the extinction of humanity. I am even impressing myself (my biggest critic!) with the direction of this new material. A music video is in the works to coincide with the album’s release. We’re probably looking at a late 2011, early 2012 release date.
